YM Technical Tour: Carrizo Water Treatment Facility

About the Facility
The Carrizo Water Treatment Facility provides wholesale potable water to numerous communities along the IH35 corridor from Buda to New Braunfels. Presently, day-to-day operations are conducted by operators from the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority under the operational oversight of the Alliance Water staff. The Carrizo Water Treatment Facility can produce upwards of 20 million gallons of potable water per day. The source water supplying the facility is the Carrizo Aquifer which has proved to be a reliable source water of generally consistent quality.
What You’ll Learn
Attendees will tour a modern groundwater treatment facility which utilizes filtration along with advanced chemistries to produce water for customers which is similar to Edwards Aquifer groundwater, which many of the customers already have a part of their individual water portfolios. In addition to learning about the treatment of groundwater, visitors will learn about the various systems that support operations and transmission of potable water across nearly 90 miles of transmission pipelines.
Tour Details
This tour is open to ASCE Members, engineering students, and young professionals. Closed-toed shoes are required, additional PPE may be required. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
