June 30 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT
The Importance of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
This presentation covers the basics of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE): the process, applying to civil engineering projects, and the benefits. It focuses on the ASCE Standard 38-22, the “Standard Guideline for Investigating and Documenting Existing Utilities” and includes information on the various types of technologies and techniques available – and how using SUE services effectively and efficiently can help to save costs in the overall project budget.
Speaker
Jim Herbert, Senior Project
Manager, Cobb, Fendley & Associates, Inc.
Jim has over 8 years of experience as Senior Project Manager for Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) projects in the Central Texas region. Before doing SUE Projects, he worked for 18 years at various firms as a Design Civil Engineer, specializing in commercial and residential land development, water and wastewater infrastructure, major drainage improvements, and municipal full-depth street reconstruction projects. Now, he finds that his previous experience has helped with his SUE work in interpreting utility field findings or understanding the needs and perspective of the design engineers and project managers.
