TexASCE Webinar: Engineering Design of Polypropylene Pipe

February 24 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CST

Engineering Design of Polypropylene Pipe for Texas Infrastructure TxDOT Item 468, FAA Applications, and Storm Sewer Case Studies

PRESENTED BY ANDRES RIVERA, PE

This webinar presents polypropylene pipe as an engineered solution for storm sewer systems used in Texas infrastructure projects. The session will cover roadway and transportation applications designed under TxDOT Item 468, aviation applications designed in accordance with FAA criteria, and Texas-based case studies demonstrating successful implementation. The presentation is intended for engineers involved in the design and delivery of roadway and aviation storm drainage systems across Texas.

Andres Rivera, P.E. is a Regional Engineer with Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc., supporting the design and delivery of storm drainage systems for transportation, aviation, and municipal infrastructure projects across Texas. He is widely recognized for his work at the intersection of engineering design, constructability, and the implementation of thermoplastic pipe storm sewer systems for large-scale infrastructure applications.

Mr. Rivera has practiced engineering across multiple sectors, including energy, commercial construction, and public infrastructure. This experience established a strong foundation in engineering design, project delivery, and field execution, which directly informs his current work supporting complex storm drainage systems for transportation and aviation infrastructure.

In his current role, Mr. Rivera works closely with public agencies, consulting engineers, and industry partners throughout Texas to advance sound engineering practices for storm sewer systems. He has collaborated extensively with transportation agencies on the development and implementation of statewide standards for thermoplastic pipe and is frequently engaged as a technical resource on buried pipe performance, long-term durability, and infrastructure resiliency. He is an active presenter and educator for professional organizations and industry groups, providing continuing education and technical guidance to engineers involved in infrastructure design.

Mr. Rivera earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Texas and New York. He is actively involved with AGC of Texas, ASCE, ACEC, and ASHE.
