
Houston Branch YM Volunteer Event

Join the ASCE Houston Branch Younger Members Forum for an upcoming volunteer event on Saturday, August 2.
When: 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM CT
Where: George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas, Houston, TX 77010
The Mayor’s Back to School Fest is held every year and is designed to help economically disadvantaged Houston-area elementary school students and their families as they prepare to return to school. In addition to distributing 25,000 backpacks with school supplies, the event will feature on-site health screenings to include: dental screenings and sealants, vision screenings, and routine immunizations.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Roles: Check-in, packing school backpacks, and distributing them to families.
- Shifts:
- Shift A: 6:30 am – 10:30 am
- Shift B: 10:30 am – 2:30 pm (Recommended for ASCE volunteers)
- Volunteers can choose to work either shift or both.
- Orientation: A mandatory virtual volunteer orientation will be held at 6:30 pm on July 29th. (Be sure you can attend)
