Join ASCE EWRI Houston for an exclusive guided technical tour of the Willow Waterhole Greenway, one of Houston’s premier examples of integrating flood risk reduction, prairie restoration, environmental stewardship, recreation, and community resilience.

Representatives from Harris County Flood Control District and the Willow Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy will lead attendees through key features of this award-winning project, discussing the planning, engineering, flood mitigation strategies, prairie and habitat restoration, environmental considerations, and long-term vision that transformed a series of detention basins into a vibrant, multi-functional regional greenspace. Participants will learn how flood infrastructure can be designed to reduce flood risk while restoring native prairie ecosystems, enhancing water quality and wildlife habitat, and creating recreational and educational opportunities that benefit the surrounding community.

This tour provides an excellent opportunity to see innovative flood infrastructure in the field and hear directly from the organizations responsible for its development and stewardship.
