Session: “Updates to the TxDOT 2024 Geotechnical Manual” by Ryan Eaves PE (TxDOT Bridge Division)
The new 2024 TxDOT Geotechnical Manual replaces the 2022 version and incorporates LRFD design. This manual outlines procedures for geotechnical characterization and design for bridges, retaining walls, slopes, and ancillary structures in Texas transportation projects. This manual is mandatory for all projects with designs commencing after July 31st, 2024. The manual reflects current best practices and design methodologies, incorporating LRFD into TxDOT geotechnical evaluation and design. The presentation will provide an overview of the manual’s structure, key technical updates, and implementation expectations.
