Meet Griselda Gonzales PE, LEED AP, ENV SP

The ASCE Texas Section Board of Direction members were asked to fill out a questionnaire so that the Section’s members might get to know them a little better on a personal level. Griselda Gonzales PE, LEED AP, ENV SP is the Section’s VP Professional Elect and a Principal Engineer at The Goodman Corporation. These are her answers.

When did you first get involved with ASCE at any level (student chapter, local branch, section)?

I first became involved with ASCE at the student chapter level and then joined the local chapter in San Antonio.

What is your favorite thing about ASCE?

The exposure to other professional engineers and the relationships we build along the way. 

How has ASCE helped you in your career?

ASCE has helped me in my career by providing exposure to new opportunities with the Government Affairs Committee. I have learned much about our legislative process and advocacy.

What’s your most memorable project?

As Government Affairs Committee Chair, it was the Legislative Drive-In. Working with a great team of professionals to see the event grow and educate our members was rewarding.

What do you love the most about being a civil engineer?

What I love most about being a civil engineer is seeing the change in communities when you do the right projects, no matter how small or large, that improve the quality of life for those immediately impacted.

Innovate, design, lead

Give us your best 2-3 sentence piece of advice for the next generation of civil engineers

Learn to think outside the box when challenged to find a solution and learn to see the bigger picture of the impacts of your work.
