Austin Branch Younger Member Forum Update

In April of 2021, the Austin Branch Younger Member Forum (Austin YMF) hosted a virtual social during the 2021 ASCE Texas Student Symposium. Students and professionals broke into small groups to work as a team to solve trivia questions. Teams were randomized throughout the event to allow attendees to meet new people each round. This event created an opportunity for Austin YMF members to network and build relationships with professionals and student attendees of the symposium. We had a great turn out at the event and gave out prizes to the winning trivia teams! Austin YMF was grateful for this opportunity to be apart of the ASCE Texas Student Symposium and support the universities throughout the Texas-Mexico region!

This last summer, as in previous non-pandemic years, we teamed up with our fellow YPT engineers to have a party barge and celebrate the “end” of a challenging year with some great music and fresh water from Lake Travis! Engineers came together to loosen up, relax and meet each other. We had some great burgers cooked on board and a spectacular tan thanks to the Texas sunlight! After four hours of non-stop fun, we docked back with new introductions, memories and did we mention a great tan already!? Looking forward for next year’s Barge. Hope to see you there!

On June 30, 2021, we celebrated our Annual Golf Tournament after a harsh year of uncertainty and postponement due to the pandemic! We are pleased to inform that this year’s tournament has been the most successful in recent history with a grand total of 92 participants! We were rejoiced to see all the attendants enjoying their time under the great Texas skies swinging their way through the Avery Ranch Golf Course. Everyone had a great time while laughing, networking and even photobombing! Of course, our always present mascot, Phil, could not miss some of the action! We want to thank everyone that made this year’s tournament possible, especially the 2020-2021 YMF Golf chair, Sydnie Fiocca and the committee behind her, as well as all the sponsors and participants! We deeply appreciate the support, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
