Recent Rainfall and Flooding — A Message from ASCE Texas President Mark Boyd

Dear ASCE Texas Section Members,

As we reflect on the recent devastating flooding across in Central Texas and continued rainfall across the State, our hearts are with everyone affected. When stormwater overwhelms communities and damages infrastructure, we feel it deeply—not just as civil engineers, but as neighbors, friends, and fellow Texans.

At ASCE Texas Section, we are committed to supporting those impacted and mobilizing the strength of our community. We are actively gathering and sharing helpful resources for those in need—and we invite you to share any links or support opportunities you come across. For those not directly affected, there are meaningful ways to help. Your compassion and expertise can make a difference.

In the coming months, we are also forming a Task Committee to assess the impacts and develop informed recommendations from a civil engineering perspective. If you would like to contribute to this important effort, please contact us at texasectionasce@gmail.com.

If you or someone you know has been affected, please don’t hesitate to reach out—whether for support, connection, or simply to share your story. Your ASCE community stands with you.

Yours with sincere care and solidarity,

Mark K. Boyd, PhD, PE
