ASCE Texas Section Awards Presented at CECON 2025

Last September at CECON 2025, ASCE Texas Section members recognized exceptional persons and projects within the Section and throughout our civil engineering community. These honorable individuals are nominated by their peers in acknowledgment of their service and accomplishments. The following awards honor engineers who, through their professional work and volunteer endeavors, have made significant contributions to advancing the field of civil engineering and improving the quality of life in Texas and beyond.

  • Sean Merrell PE, PTOE – Award of Honor
  • Gilbert Portillo PE – Young Civil Engineer Award
  • Nisha Sthapit MS, EIT – Outstanding Civil Engineer Student Award

We had the honor of presenting the Texas Outstanding Civil Engineer Achievement Award to Project 11: Houston Ship Channel Expansion, Segments 1-2, the 2025 award winner. Representatives from the Port of Houston and AECOM, and GBA (joint venture) were present to receive this prestigious recognition.

Additionally, in recognition of the OCEA Award of Merit, the Northaven Trail Bridge. Teams from HNTB and TxDOT- Dallas District attended.
