ASCE Texas Section’s CECON Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the 2021 Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON) will be held in-person this September 15-17 at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel, Conference Center & Spa in San Marcos, Texas. This event focuses on speakers and technical seminars related to Laying the Foundations of Sustainability. Registration is now available online – save $50 with early bird registration through June 30.

Sustainability is more than just a buzzword, it is essential that the foundations for a sustainable future of civil engineering are laid today, while we can provide input and direction to agencies and legislators. Laying the foundations of sustainability begins with evaluating the past, examining the breakdown of current conditions, recognizing known issues, embracing adversity, and planning with the opportunity for investment for the future. Educating engineers on the importance of their individual impacts is essential and the CECON 2021 program focuses on encouraging this mindset across all engineers for the future, today! Focusing on the challenge of technical, social, and economical systems successfully interacting with ecological systems is key. This is a collaborative and collective process shared by all levels across all disciplines of civil engineering: planning, design, management, implementation, business, and community. Your input is encouraged and welcome in all aspects of this year’s sustainability theme. The call for topics will remain open and submissions will be consider for this year’s conference, ASCE Texas Section webinars, Texas Civil Engineer articles, and future CECONs.

We have a lot of exciting plans for the CECON 2021 program including; dynamic keynote speakers, our flagship Texas Legislative Panel, engineering and construction industry panels, the latest innovative technical presentations, exhibitors made up of Texas civil engineers & suppliers, a delicious BBQ hosted by Texas Concrete Pipe Association (TCPA) at Wonder World Cave and Adventure Park, and the presentation of ASCE Texas Section’s 2021 awards during the CECON Gala. There will be plenty of opportunity for networking and relationship building at this year’s in-person event. The CECON Planning Committee is looking forward to hosting you and providing you with a top-notch experience that will be safe and comfortable for all our attendees.

The CECON 2021 Planning Committee and ASCE Texas Section Board of Direction would like to thank our membership for supporting ASCE Texas Section programing. The success of our flagship, annual conference allows us to provide outstanding programing throughout the year. All these opportunities make a difference for so many civil engineers.
