2019 ASCE Texas Student Symposium

April 10-13

South Padre Island, TX

Hosted by the ASCE Student Chapter at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

Join the Texas Section and ASCE Student Chapters from the Texas-Mexico Student Conference in April 2019 for our 5th Annual ASCE Texas Student Symposium. The Symposium will include:

  • Regional Concrete Canoe Competition
  • Research Poster Competition & Technical Paper Competition
  • Concrete Bowling & Concrete Frisbee Competitions
  • Blue Sky Competition
  • Networking and Career Fair opportunities
  • Soft-skill seminars (creating a resume, job interview tips, networking best practices, etc.)

The 2019 Symposium will not include the 2019 AISC Regional Student Steel Bridge Competition (SSBC).

More Information about SSBC: In response to the recent announcement of the split between ASCE and AISC, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was faced with a difficult decision and has decided not to host the Regional SSBC in 2019. The Texas Section of ASCE supports UTRGV and their decision. As of September 26, 2018, it is unknown if another university will host the 2019 AISC Regional SSBC. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

The Symposium Career Fair is an opportunity for employers to meet with students from universities across Texas and Mexico in one place. The students who are active within ASCE are some of the brightest young civil engineering minds engaged in leadership, teamwork, and professionalism. 2019 Career Fair booths are limited so be sure to reserve your spot today.

We are also seeking Corporate Sponsors to help keep the Symposium affordable for the student attendees. We hope you will consider supporting this one-of-a-kind event and help our students reach their full potential. Benefits of sponsorship include:

  • Brand recognition and engagement with civil engineering students across Texas and Mexico
  • Networking opportunities
  • Potential employees
  • The feeling of pride that comes with knowing you are helping to support Texas' civil engineers of tomorrow
