Infrastructure Week

Infrastructure Week Logo

Celebrate National Infrastructure Week with us! Each May we gather through various events to elevate infrastructure as a critical issue impacting America’s economy, society, security and future.

Infrastructure Week, a non-profit organization*, convenes a national week of education and advocacy that brings together American businesses, workers, elected leaders, and everyday citizens around one message: The future won’t wait. Neither can we. It’s #TimeToBuild.

*ASCE is a member of the Infrastructure Week Steering Committee. Visit www.infrastructureweek.org for more details.

To celebrate Infrastructure Week 2018, we hosted a provocative panel discussion over lunch in Houston, “Hurricane Harvey Recovery & Resiliency: The Future of Houston Area Stormwater Infrastructure”. We discussed regional stormwater management infrastructure and recovery needs, and resiliency plans going forward. Panelists included Carol Haddock PE, Director, Houston Public Works; Alan Black PE, Director, Engineering Division, Harris County Flood Control District; Kathleen Jackson PE, Board Member, Texas Water Development Board; and Eddie Williams, PA Group Supervisor, Federal Emergency Management Agency. The event was moderated by Steve Costello PE, Chief Resilience Officer, City of Houston and planned by our Task Committee for Post Hurricane Harvey Recommendations.

Help Us Celebrate – Share Your IWeek Ideas!

We will continue to look for opportunities to celebrate infrastructure, as well as advocate for infrastructure-related issues each May. Share your ideas for local and state-wide events with our  Government Affairs Committee at governmentaffairs@TexASCE.org
