Webinar: Mega Drainage in Houston

October 26 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CDT

The Houston Stronger Buffalo Bayou Community Plan (BBCP) is a community effort that is preparing flood mitigation alternatives to those suggested by the Army Corps of Engineers for the Buffalo Bayou Watershed. The Corps’ two alternatives, released in a study completed in October 2020, were not acceptable to the affected community. Houston Stronger’s BBCP is developing detention and retention solutions, including nature based solutions, excavation in the two reservoirs and a 29-mile stormwater tunnel. These four components are the basis of the community plan.

Houston Stronger is a 501(c)(4) not-for-profit that advocates for federal, state, and local funding to support flood resiliency around the Greater Houston region through collaborative engagement. Houston Stronger seeks to organize funding and support for flood resiliency plans that can be supported by its membership of business and community organizations, civic clubs, and individuals consistent with the Houston Stronger Regional Plan, developed in 2018. The plan calls for over $67 billion for flood control projects to provide protection in our eight county area in the Texas Gulf Coast Region.
