Webinar: Challenges and the Future of Construction Materials in Civil Engineering Projects

January 12 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CST

Description

Texas’ unprecedented population growth means there is great demand for the raw materials that help residents and businesses grow and thrive. With such growth comes growing pains. For example, how should the state supply and fund the building of our bridges, roads, homes and hospitals? The Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association (TACA) is right in the middle of this discussion, representing industry members who are the main resource for necessary infrastructure materials, including 75% of the ready-mix, 80% of the aggregates and 100% of the cement producers in the state. During his presentation, Josh Leftwich, president and CEO of TACA, will share some timely thoughts on the issues and importance of these critical industries, including
the economic impact – which only continues to grow.

Speaker

Josh Leftwich headshot 1Josh Leftwich was named the President and CEO of the Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association (TACA) in May 2020, after having served 20 years in the mining and energy sectors. He has an extensive and diverse range of experience in environmental permitting and regulatory policy, legislative engagement, business planning, risk management and stakeholder engagement. Before joining TACA, Leftwich was manager of business development, environmental and safety of the Southern Division of Knife River, which is one of the largest construction materials and contracting companies in the U.S. While there, he oversaw the company’s environmental programs for its operating sites and led safety and business development teams. Over the span of his career, Leftwich has directed projects at Cameco Resources, Uranium Energy Corp and Mesteña Uranium.

Leftwich has been active in state and national trade associations for many years, including the National Mining Association, the Associated General Contractors, the Texas Mining and Reclamation Association and the Society of Mining Engineers, among others. He has also been an active member of TACA, having served on TACA’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee, as well as Chair of TACA’s Government Affairs Committee. His involvement and work during the 86th Texas Legislative Session proved invaluable, as TACA faced some of the most challenging and active policymaking initiatives in its history. Leftwich is a graduate of Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Renewable Natural Resources, and was a Fellow at Oxford University’s World Nuclear University. He and his wife Sheridan have four children, two dogs and a few fish.
