Texas T&DI Webinar: Parking Essentials: Trends, Tools & Techniques
October 22 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM CDT
Our history as a car culture has conditioned people to expect ample and convenient parking, often as the expense of transit and other modes of travel. This has also shaped our urban form, sacrificing density and walkability for subsidized parking. But planners are changing the way parking is handled at the local and regional levels. The future of parking will be much different from what we know today. So what is behind this realization and what is being done about it?
This session will provide participants an overview of how cities and developers are rethinking traditional parking paradigms. Planning will need to change to adapt to autonomous vehicles, ride-hailing services, and the new ‘normal’ with COVID. The session will include examples of innovative approaches to managing multimodal travel demand, implementing shared parking concepts, addressing common misconceptions, and balancing the needs of all of the partners involved in development projects.
