ASCE Texas Section members are encouraged to contact the Section’s Government Affairs Committee for assistance in setting meetings with elected officials and acquiring material for those meetings, such as copies of the 2017 Report Card for Texas’ Infrastructure.

Infrastructure Report Card Outreach

As you may already know, ASCE Texas Section depicts the condition and performance of Texas’ infrastructure in the familiar form of a school report card—assigning letter grades based on the physical condition and needed investments for improvement for categories such as bridges, drinking water, and dams. You may already be familiar with the nationwide report card issued every four years, available here.

The Section’s Infrastructure Report Card Committee worked hard in 2016 and 2017 to assess how the needed improvements to Texas’ infrastructure have been addressed since the last report card release in 2012. Our goal for the report card is to assist leaders, and the public, in understanding the investments needed to maintain these critical infrastructure systems.

As an ASCE Texas Section member, please be aware of this important tool and use it to start, or continue, the conversation with your community leaders about its infrastructure investment needs. The Section’s Government Affairs Committee is available to help you plan for meetings.
