Lightning Rounds and Poster Presentations

September 20-22, 2017

Two Opportunities to

Share Knowledge at CECON 2017

Would you like to present a poster or participate in our Lightning Round presentations? There's even the possibility of doing both!

Poster Presentations

An opportunity has been created for attendees to participate directly in the program for CECON in two ways. Participants may present a Poster during the first two days and the conference attendees will vote for the top posters to be formally presented in a Lightning Round format on the second day of the conference.

If you are interested in presenting a poster, please send your draft Abstract before August 1 to VPTech@texasce.org. The submission date of your draft Abstract determines your poster placement, so please do not delay submitting your application. You can find out more about submitting posters on the CECON website here.

Lightning Round Participation

Lightning Rounds are designed to teach, inform and highlight important ideas or interests centered on the theme of the conference – "Resiliency in Engineering: A Pro-Active Collaboration”. This fast-paced program is designed to demonstrate a topic in a quick and insightful manner; to dive right to the heart of the issue and engage the audience.

Each Lightning Round session will last one hour with a maximum of four presentations in each session. Each presentation is made by one individual who will have 10 minutes to speak on their topic after which a 5 minute question and answer session will be allowed. Slide presentations to illustrate the talk are encouraged and presenters should avoid excessive lead-up (history, background) but get directly to their main point. The goal is to present information quickly and effectively during the session.

Winners will be awarded a $50 gift card and be invited to present their topic in a future ASCE Texas webinar. CECON 2016 Lightning Round winner, Kelvin Reinhardt C.P.M. – Executive Director Lime Association of Texas, is presenting ASCE Texas'  August Webinar on Soil Stabilization.

Submit your proposal for a presentation by July 15 to VPTech@TexasCE.org. Accepted presenters will be notified by August 1. Learn more about the Lightning Rounds Here.
