Join the Texas Section and ASCE Student Chapters from the Texas-Mexico Student Conference in early March for the 4th annual Student Symposium and the 2nd annual combined competitions for steel bridge and concrete canoe. Students, whether they are contestants or soon-to-graduate, will have the opportunity to attend a series of soft-skill seminars to prepare them for their new careers. The students will learn how to create an excellent resume, interview for a job, plan for their future careers, and how to network. A Texas-wide career fair will give them the opportunity to put this specific learning into play at the Symposium, and employers will have access to exceptional students.

The theme for the 2017 Student Symposium is “Building Bridges/Trascendiendo Fronteras.” The symposium includes seminars on sustainability and is focused on soft skills that support the transition from the learning environment to the professional arena. The seminars will be on communication, self-marketing, professional dress, safety, and financial savvy.

2017 Rules and Regulations for the National Concrete Canoe Competition are now available on ASCE's website.

Students: Submit a paper to win the Daniel W. Mead Prize!

2017 Mead Topic: "Is it ethical for university engineering faculty to teach technical subject matter to engineering students without obtaining professional licensure?" More information on the Daniel W.  Mead Prize for Students

The Symposium Career Fair is an opportunity for employers to meet with students from universities from across Texas in one place. The Career Fair will allow employers to interact with the students over the course of two days. The students who are participating in ASCE are some of the brightest civil engineering minds engaged in leadership, teamwork, and professionalism. Be part of the 2017 career fair.

We are seeking corporate sponsors to defray the cost of the events and to keep the Symposium affordable for the student attendees. Sponsors of this event will gain brand recognition, community engagement, networking opportunities, potential employees and the ability to show their support for the civil engineers of tomorrow. Please be a Sponsor of this one-of-a-kind event and help our students reach their full potential. Learn more about sponsorship here.
